A centerpiece or serving piece.

These bowls are as much an exercise in throwing as trimming. After thrown, they are turned upside down about half dry and spun on the wheel much as on a lathe, while I hold a sharp tool and peel mounds of clay ribbons away to shape their undersides. The result is a narrow foot and a base that lifts and throws shadows from underneath. A striking silhouette.

These are the last pieces finished in the original Ink black glaze. It has greenish undertones in bright light-see side by side photos for comparison original (left bud vase), updated (right cup). See Finishes page for color descriptions.

Measurements vary slightly and are approximate by unique piece as follows

I & II 6 1/2"- 7” across, 3 1/2”-4" high

III & V- 7 1/2” across, 3 1/2” high

V- 8 1/2” across, 3 3/8” high

Each piece of LULA Pottery is made by my hands, and you should expect to see natural variations brought about by human touch.
